Tetsujin’s new Michelin Chef designed lunch menu

Melbourne’s lunch crowd is lining up for a table at renowned Japanese restaurant Tetsujin who have collaborated with Michelin Awarded Japanese chef, Masahiko Yomoda for a new and exciting lunch menu. Designed by Yomoda-san, the 17-dish menu features a wide range of delicious and traditional Japanese flavours, all with a modern twist.

Available from 11:30am to 3:00pm from Monday to Friday, the new menu is designed for the lunchtime crowd that want something heartier and more flavoursome than the normal day-to-day options.

Yomoda-san previously trained in classic French cuisine in Lyon under the command of Alain Chapel. In 2008, Yomoda San worked at acclaimed French restaurant Robouchon, following which he moved to Tokyo where he received a coveted Michelin Star as executive chef at Arbrace, Japan.

We loved tasting our way through the menu. To start we adored the dish of Roast Beef with Onsen Egg Sauce. Thinly sliced ribbons of beef boasted a beautiful umami flavour with the onsen egg sauce adding a moreish richness to the dish.

For main the Salmon Teriyaki was beautiful. Perfectly cooked salmon teriyaki was served atop a fluffy bed of Quinoa and laced with a luxurious teriyaki sauce.

If you want something heartier than do no go past the Beef Short Rib with Basted Korean Chili BBQ Sauce. The beef was exceedingly tender and falling off the bone courtesy of being patiently slow roasted for 48 hours.

Sweet tooths are also rewarded with this new lunchtime menu. We thoroughly enjoyed the theatrical dish of Fuji Apple and Matcha Custard Cream. Arriving in a mysterious cloud from the clever use of dry ice, this was a beautifully fresh and enticing dessert.
