We loved tasting our way through the new Yum Cha menu, which is made fresh in-house daily.
As expected, we were thoroughly impressed by our yumcha experience at the restaurant. The menu features an abundance of choices including a truly exquisite dim sum options and other lunch items available a la carte. There truly is something to suit everyone (even the fussiest of eaters).
Our personal favourite is the steamed spinach and wild mushroom dumplings. Think wonderfully thin yet slightly gooey dumpling pastry encasing perfectly cooked varieties of mushrooms coated in fine spinach.
Another must have is the steamed barbecue pork rice roll – a wonderful version of the traditional cheong fun, this dish is delicate and heroes the richness of the barbecued pork.
For something more decadent, the baked black truffle and wagyu beef puff will leave you wanting more. The addition of black truffle certainly added to the decadence of this dish and worked wonderfully with the melt in your mouth texture of the wagyu.
In terms of the yum cha essentials like har gow and glutinous rice, Yu Kitchen excels as well. Expect these to be some of the finest renditions you will ever try. Picture perfect, everything we tasted was truly exquisite.
As you slowly work your way to dessert time, make sure you try the ever popular steamed Heavenly Swans Filled with White Lotus Paste. These works of art are as pretty as they are moreish. Crispy and flaky pastry combined with the most decadent lotus paste that will leave your taste buds tingling.
Steeped in tradition but crafted with a keen eye for detail and a passion for pushing culinary boundaries, the new yum cha menu at Yu Kitchen is sensational. A joint venture between The Oriental and Ruyi Group in Malaysia and renowned Calia Collective of Australia, Yu Kitchen encourages guests to discover and explore new and quirky dishes with its take on classic flavours with a touch of modernity, taking guests on a divine journey through the old world and new world of Chinese cuisine – a delicious journey not to be missed.
