Zero Mode
/Zero Mode stands out from the crowd with its exciting creative food that is simply delicious.
Not the typical Box Hill eatery you would expect, Zero Mode is vibrant and eclectic and can you’re your needs from breakfast, lunch to cocktails and dinner or even just a simple coffee and cake.
We loved tasting our way through the dinner menu which is inspired by Asian flavours.
To start we loved the fluffy bao buns. Both the duck bao and the crispy pork belly with kimchi bao were wonderful.
To follow, the dish of Drunken Prawns had us fighting over the last morsel. Wonderfully plump chargrilled king prawns were served with a flavour-laden jiu niang rice paste.
The dish of Kingfish was similarly delightful. The slices of exceedingly fresh dish were served with a stunning amalgamation of lime, ginger, basil, roasted pine nuts, crispy onion, capers, macadamia, cream and shiso.
Yet another highlight was the Tempura Cauliflower. One of our favourite dishes of the night, the cauliflower boasted an ethereally light and crispy batter and sat atop aromatic Thai yellow curry cream and was finished with curry leaf and shredded cheese. This was simply a thing of beauty. Highly recommended!
For mains the Rendang Beef certainly hit the spot. Comfort food at its best, the wagyu
rendang simply melted in our mouths and was served with classical condiments you would expect from a Malaysian nasi lemak – think crispy anchovies, peanuts, cucumber, sambal fried egg and fluffy rice.
Dessert time continues to please at Zero Mode. Head up to the glass cabinet and choose from a selection of perfectly made Bibelot desserts to go with your coffee or if you want a truly decadent experience, pair it with Zero Mode’s out of control iced matcha latte.
