Bar Nacional

Set within Collins Square at the Docklands end of Collins St, Bar Nacional reimagines classic Spanish tapas with relaxed grazing in mind. An exciting wine list featuring many Spanish as well as Australian wines completes this compelling tapas bar offering.

Crafted by head chef Scott Spence, the menu is flexible and ranges from high quality charcuterie, small tapas such as the refreshing oysters with watermelon mignonette, pigs head croqueta de cerdo and moreish leek & mahon croquets (these are incredibly addictive), as well as larger plates for sharing.

The Rangers Valley “churrasco”, heirloom tomato, cucumber, chermoula was a standout - beautifully tender and perfectly cooked, and the Bar Nacional's josper wood oven was put to excellent use to prepare the succulent josper roasted fish. Of course, what would a tapas bar be without patatas braves, which were beautifully golden and crisp.

The desserts at Bar Nacional did not disappoint. A particular standout was the indulgent Palito Helado, vanilla orange ice cream, caramel chocolate - the vanilla orange ice cream was divine.

Bar Nacional is a great place to share a few drinks with friends whilst being taken on a journey to Spain over imaginative, exciting plates, and all a few minutes stroll from the CBD.
