Chapati
/Chapati delivers Indian cuisine like you have never tasted before by delivering an exciting blend of tradition and urban Melbourne.
Chapati Indian restaurant is about fresh Indian street food – simmering, sizzling, kneading, roasting, and flipping the way it’s done in India - redolent in spice, flavour and texture.
The menu boasts high quality Indian food that is freshly cooked with love and care and fiercely flavoursome. Everything is made in-house. From the smoked and ground spices, freshly made chutneys, delicate naan breads to the soothing lassis.
The ambience is modern and stylish, an extension of Chapati’s contemporary interpretation of Indian cuisine.
An absolute must-have is the pepper fry prawns. Inspired by Southern India, this beautiful dish is tempered in curry leaves served with a side of flavoured onion relish.
For mains, we adored the curries we had. The dal Bukhara was a beautiful curry - a crowd favourite which had us fighting for the last morsel.
The fish moilee was similarly delicious. Think creamy coconut-based fish stew, extremely rich in spice and flavour with an international touch.
Continuing on the trend of the evening, the ghee lamb was beautiful. It was an exceedingly tender and flavour-laden curry, boasting a depth of flavour from the use of a myriad of delectable spices. Each curry was a great pair with the fluffy naan and beady basmati rice.
Our visit to Chapati concluded on a wonderfully sweet note with a classic - gulab jamun.
Fresh and full of the spices Chapati is a compelling proposition and a brilliant addition to Carlton’s culinary scene.
