Niku Ou
/Niku Ou is a testimony that Japanese cuisine is so much more than sushi, tempura and soba. Niku Ou and its sister restaurant Wagyu Ya are one of the only two restaurants in Australia to be granted with a licence to cook and serve the most rare (and expensive) beef in the world to their customers.
Situated at 108 Bourke Street, Melbourne City, the restaurant boasts an exclusive licence to serve Kobe Beef, the highly prized Wagyu beef from Japan.
Niku Ou translates to ‘Meat King’ and has a king’s ransom of the most select cuts of Japanese Kobe and Australian Wagyu, freshly flame grilled by the expert Japanese barbecue masters at your very own table.
From Beluga Caviar and A5 wagyu carpaccio cold entrees, to foie gras toast and M9 wagyu ya gyoza as hot entrées. It is here that the dining experience ramps up.
Shabu Shabu, Sashimi and Sushi are all available but the real star of the show are the M9 (Australian) and A5 (Japanese) beef selections of long cut tenderloin, sirloin and other cuts that are seared over hot coals and served sizzling and succulent to eager clientele.
We loved tasting our way through the stunning wagyu selection and were simply blown away. It is certainly an experience worth having.
Niku Ou also serve show stopping cocktails, Japanese whisky, wine, sake and sweet treats to finish.
