Hunky Dory launches plant-based dishes
/Hunky Dory have just launched a range of delicious plant-based dishes this summer.
Hunky Dory’s owner, Greg Robotis, comes from a long line of fishermen, dating back almost 90 years to the Greek Islands. Hunky Dory first opened in 2004 with a vision to offer healthier seafood options along with the more traditional fried fish and chips.
Greg saw there was a gap in the market for customers who wanted to dine in and enjoy a glass or wine or a beer with their meal. Thus Hunky Dory Fish and Burger Bar was born. Today, Hunky Dory continues to evolve – noticing the ever growing demand for plant-based cuisine in Melbourne, the new menu is a most celebrated addition.
The plant based fishless fish fillets were absolutely moreish and go perfectly with the various salad options. The hunky bowls paired with the fishless fish fillets are our top pick. Think crunchy nuggets of fishless fish atop a healthy bowl packed with fresh broccoli, red cabbage, cucumber, edamame, corn and red paper on lemon and dill brown rice laced with sesame dressing.
The Southern Fried cauliflower is another great addition that can be served along side a range of plant based dipping sauces including a creamy plant based aioli.
You can definitely be friends with salad at Hunky Dory. Our favourite salads (which also happen to be plant based) includes the couscous salad (a hearty mix of couscous, kale, cucumber, red capsicum, sun-dried tomatoes, cranberries, parsley, spring onion and citrus dressing) as well as the spiced cauliflower salad (which is a beautiful amalgamation of cauliflower, brown rice, chickpeas, edamame, corn, currants, spring onion, parsley, pepitas and Dijon vinaigrette.
What Hunky Dory does, it does well. The new menu inspired by international flavours and delicious ingredients is a welcome addition to loyal punters and fresh foodies.
