Nanjing Story
/Traditional Jiangsu cuisine fit for an emperor has found a home in Melbourne’s Chinatown.
Having recently opened in January 2020, Nanjing Story is the newest addition to Melbourne’s vibrant, convenient and culturally rich Chinatown.
With a menu full of delicious cheap eats and dishes for intrepid and “less-intrepid” diners, Nanjing Story’s fresh and flavourful menu will be enjoyed by all.
We loved tasting our way through the delicious menu.
To start, the pan-fried original pork buns are a must have – enveloped in delicate pastry and boasting a crispy bottom, these soup filled buns were simply Moorish.
The prawn wontons in chilli and peanut sauce were similarly delicious. We loved the velvety wonton pastry and the accompanying sea of sweet soy, peanut sauce and dried chilli. Cooked with the perfect amount of heat, these wontons were absolutely tantalising.
For mains, make sure you try the whole deep fried barramundi coated in sweet and sour sauce - it’s simply a thing of beauty.
