Longhorn Saloon

From the makers of Le Bon Ton and 5 Points Deli, Longhorn Saloon offers a menu that celebrates the tastes and techniques of a good ol' Tex-Mex joint with smoked meats, juicy steaks and burgers along with decadent desserts. 

Owners and brothers Will and Mick Balleau's love for American style food is reflected at Longhorn Saloon. The menu boasts items such as ½ lb of Pit-Smoked, Berkshire Pork Shoulder & House Pickle and other American classics like Chicken & Waffles. 

We started with the Fried Chicken Tenders. The meaty boneless fried chicken morsels were each crusted with a flavoursome spice mix and then perfectly fried to achieve a moreish crunchy exterior, served with crumbly cheddar biscuit, it was absolutely moreish with the cracked pepper white gravy and the pickled green chilli.

Smoked Brisket Nachos were similarly delicious. Comprised of a generous shared plate of Le Bon Ton Pit Smoked Brisket, Grilled Cheese, Pico de Gallo and Crema. It was absolutely delicious. 

The highlight of our meal, the Longhorn Saloon Chicken & Waffles exceeded our expectations. The cumin and oregano rubbed roasted half chicken was delectably tender and had been nicely caramelised and were flavoured well by the decadently jam and bourbon maple butter. The corn waffles possessed a perfectly crisp exterior and a fluffy interior and worked wonders with the chicken, bacon and maple butter.

For dessert, we particularly enjoyed the vanilla cheesecake pretzel base, strawberry coulis and kiwi fruit. The cheesecake was guiltily rich and beautifully velvety. The pretzel pastry base delivered an addictive salinity while the fresh kiwi fruit provided a kick of enlivening tartness cream. It was a decadent end to our dinner at Longhorn Saloon.

In a menu that revels the flavours of America, Will and Mick’s culinary know-how and creativity is harnessed. If you love a good steakhouse and mammoth-sized Tex-Mex comfort food, you'll love Longhorn Saloon.
