Palinka Bar & Kitchen
/Located on bustling Brunswick Street in Fitzroy, Palinka Bar and Kitchen is an Eastern European inspired venue.
The venue specialises in Eastern European-inspired tapas with an expansive range of Palinka (Hungarian and Eastern European fruit spirits) and boutique European beers. At the helm of the operation is owner David Buchler who draws from his Hungarian family background to create a welcoming atmosphere and to deliver food nagymama would approve of.
In line with its social setting, the tapas items are designed for sharing, with dishes divided into user friendly sections. The menu is abundant with options and features authentic Eastern European flavours combined with modern techniques and twists alongside excellent service.
We enjoyed the dishes we sampled - Everything was hearty, well-seasoned and had beautiful flavours.
Our favourite dish of the evening was the Hungarian Beef Goulash which was packed chock full of flavour. The spicy goulash soup was hearty, the chunky cubes of beef were tender and well-seasoned courtesy of being slow cooked for 6 hours and seasones with onion, tomato, capsicum, Hungarian sweet paprika.
Be sure to save room for dessert and order the Somloi galuska which is a beautiful dessert comprising layers of fluffy and moist house-made sponge, crunchy walnuts, Belgian cocoa and luxurious creme anglaise, adorned with fresh cream and dark chocolate sauce.
