The Blacksmith’s Brother
/Situated in the Lilydale, The Blacksmith’s Brother is the younger brother to Blacksmith Bakery in Belgrave.
The café boasts a delectable selection of cakes and hand crafted breads as well as a scrumptious breakfast and lunch menu. As expected from any good Melbourne café, coffee is great and poured by adept baristas.
We loved tasting our way through the menu. The Rainbow Road was a winner. A cheeky take on the smashed avo, this generous dish features crusty sourdough topped with luxurious smashed avo, beetroot puree, mashed roasted pumpkin, cherry tomatoes and fetta.
For health fiends, we recommend the Superfood Buddha bowl which is a nutrient dense amalgamation of paprika pumpkin, garlic beets, quinoa and brown rice, lemon tossed kale and spiced chickpeas all brought together by a flavour-laden tahini and coriander dressing.
There is even a section of the menu purely dedicated to the Egg Benedict. You can’t really go wrong here! Our top pick was the Baa Baa Benny - truly gratifying! Apart from all the usual suspects, this egg benedict also included melt in your mouth slow cooked and pulled lamb as well as creamy beetroot hummus.
Blacksmith’s Brother is a neighbourhood gem serving up a creative brunch menu which delights and surprises using the local ingredients. The best part is, everything is made in house.
