Café de la Ville

Perched along Toorak Road, Café de la Ville boasts a beautifully decadent array of French pastries as you walk in, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that will have you feeling like you’re exploring the streets of Paris.

Inspired by European eating, the menu offers French style cuisine focusing on quality. As expected of any good Melbourne café, the eatery prides itself on excellent coffee, working closely with Cottle on Coventry to provide a variety of coffee beans that have been carefully selected to guarantee a delicious cup of coffee.

We were particularly impressed with the waffles on offer which are some of the best that Melbourne has to offer. We tried both the savoury and the sweet and each were absolutely perfect - crisp and well-browned on the outside with a moist, light, airy and fluffy inside.

The savoury 3 Cheese Waffle was superb. Combining comte, provolone and goats cheese for a wonderful depth of flavour, the waffle paired with great effect with crisp streaky bacon, roasted tomato and petite herb and leaf salad.

The sweet waffles were again, wonderful. The perfectly made waffles were the ideal canvas for the fresh figs, juicy mango dice, tangy lime segments, decadent white chocolate sauce and slightly tart passionfruit syrup.

Servicing the local South Yarra and wider area community, Café de la Ville provides a welcoming atmosphere coupled with a fantastic array of quality food choices. Whatever you do, do not leave without trying the waffles. You can thank us later.
