High Tea at Le Plonc
/Founded in Silicon Valley, Le Plonc is a bespoke restaurant and wine bar that recently opened in Armadale. Sophisticated, but not stuffy, approachable but not too casual, Le Plonc is a haven where no one is rushing you, where you are as at home reading a book in the corner table, as you are with a group of friends celebrating a special occasion.
The menu boasts modern European wine bar cuisine under the safe guidance of Head Chef, Allison Hartmire whose 18 year resume includes stints with some of Melbourne’s most celebrated chefs, such as George Colombaris and Shane Delia. Allison was also the head chef of State of Grace.
We loved tasting our way through their high tea offering which is served as multiple courses with tea and coffee, and champagne (if you are so inclined!). To start a plate of “Caviar three ways” begins this decadent dining experience on a high. Think oysters with champagne mignonette and Sevruga caviar, beef tartare on potato crisp and Siberian sturgeon caviar as well as smoked duck pâté with orange jam.
The second course with a trio of savoury hot items were similarly enticing. The soft cheese petit tart was a true highlight. We loved the combination of crumbly buttery pastry with sweet onion and crisp apple.
The cheekily named third course of “Finger finale” was a truly exquisite take on the traditional high tea sandwiches. Each of the three perfectly presented sliced sandwiches were delicious. The three cheese toastie which was laced with slices of black truffle was our favourite. Truly decadent.
Our visit concluded on a sweet note with a course of bite-sized desserts and finishing with freshly baked scones serves with jam and cream.
If you're looking for something a little different from the regular high tea offerings around town, Le Plonc offers a decadent and luxurious experience that is sheer pleasure. Le Plonc offers High Tea every Saturday from 12-2.
