High tea on the High Seas by Searoad Ferries

Gastrology bloggers dined courtesy of Searoad Ferries.
If you're looking for something a little different from the regular high tea offerings around town, Searoad Ferries offers a decadent and picturesque experience on board the Queenscliff Sorrento Ferry.
The High Tea on the High Seas package is $40.00 per person and includes immediate return travel on the same ferry for a leisurely experience.  Served in the Portsea Lounge, we indulged in an Afternoon Tea of exquisite cakes, desserts, scones and lovely sandwiches over barista made coffee.
We loved the elegant setting; white tablecloths, china and 180 degrees of unadulterated views.
The sandwiches were pleasant to eat and were kept deliberately simple.
The top tier was filled with delicious sweet treats which looked as good as they tasted. We especially adored the cheesecake. The rich cheesecake was beautifully made. Creamy, decadent with a crumbly buttery base. It was beautiful.
A key component to a successful high tea is good scones. These scones were delightfully light and buttery in flavour. The accompanying jam was delicious.
We were very pleased with the quality and standard of the offerings.
There are two vessels which operate from Queenscliff to Sorrento. The twin hull vessels are specially designed to operate in all weather conditions ensuring consistency of service for our customers. Each vessel holds approximately 80 vehicles and 700 passengers.
On both vessels, wide panoramic windows and numerous external observation decks highlight the natural beauty and man-made features of Southern Port Phillip.
During the crossing passengers enjoy views of lighthouses, historic fortifications, cliff top mansions, beacons and marine life such as dolphins, seabirds and occasionally whales.
The service has become one of Victoria’s major tourism experiences as well as a key section of Victoria’s road network.
The Queenscliff Sorrento Ferry offers a commendable and very well-priced High Tea option for Melbournians with a difference.

Bakers Delight is bringing back tea time

Bakers Delight is calling Australians to rediscover the importance of afternoon tea with their delicious Aussie scones.
Bakers Delight recently launched a limited time range of new Orange Poppy and Orange Choc Scones at the newly launched Cristina Re ‘Where A Girl Goes’ High Tea Salon in Collingwood.
At the event, guests indulged in the traditional simplicity of an Orange Poppy Scone topped with cream cheese icing as well as provided their taste-buds with a decadent treat of Orange Choc Scones which were chock full of choc chips which complemented their fresh orange flavour.
The new Cristina Re was the perfect place for the launch – visually beautiful and stimulating to all of the senses. From vintage inspired tea cups, dining ware and gold plated cutlery, all trimmed in 24 carat gold, Cristina’s signature collectible pieces reflect style and elegance, and look beautiful topped with a top-notch scone.

What does tea time mean to you?
We’re all guilty of it – powering through the day and neglecting to treat ourselves to life’s simple pleasures. Nowadays, tea breaks are few and far between. It’s time to take back those 15 minutes of downtime with a cuppa and a treat to collect our thoughts and recharge our batteries.
Bakers Delight is calling Australians to rediscover the importance of afternoon tea with their delicious Aussie scones. We happily answered to their calling by indulging in Bakers Delights' delicious scones (from their Prahran store) over a cuppa. Our favourite scone was the Berry and White Choc scone. Packed with generous amounts of plush blueberries and white chocolate chips, the Berry and White Choc Scone was an absolute delight.
Tea time is something quite special to me. Personally, a cup of tea and a sweet treat at 3.30pm each day helps me power through and get the most out of my day. It’s a little “me time” and a pick me up which helps me gather my thoughts and keep my sanity.

High Tea @ LuxBite

LuxBite in South Yarra has taken the tradition of High Tea and decorated it with a sprinkling of pop culture. In true LuxBite style, Tea for 2 is all about giving you a unique LuxBite experience filled with bright coloured, bold and exotic flavours.

LuxBite’s range of desserts and macarons is truly amazing. The macarons on offer range from the more classic flavours such as Salted Caramel and Hazelnut, to modern twists such as Heilala Vanilla Crème Brulee and Bamboo Oolong Tea but it doesn’t stop there. LuxBite push things to the next level with flavour sensations such as Ribena Lemonade and Kaya Toast.

Endless Love Macaron Cake
Inspired by Pierre Herme’s Ispahan: lychee ganache, rose cream, lychee, fresh raspberries, rose & lychee macarons

The combination of perfectly soft yet chewy rose and lychee shells, the decadent lychee ganache and rose cream filling was a marriage made in heaven; it was truly superlative in every sense.
Opera Banoffee
Hazelnut sponge, banana ganache, Sichuan pepper, chocolate crunch, salted toffee buttercream

The visually attractive “Opera Banoffee” was a magnificent layered creation. The mixture of the light hazelnut sponge, together with the slight kick from the Sichuan pepper, the intense richness of the ganache and the saltiness from the toffee buttercream produced a balanced and delectable dessert.
LuxBite’s Tea for 2 is a modern and decadent experience which is available at the fraction of the price of a full high tea. More than just an ordinary retail cake store, LuxBite is a fun, interactive workshop where people can go to embrace and indulge in the sweeter things in life. LuxBite founders and flavour-makers Bernard Chu and Yen Yee employ their artistic ingenuity to craft a diverse range of desserts that push the boundaries with great success.
