Academy Kitchen + Bar
/Recently opened hot spot Academy Kitchen & Bar, located in the heart of Richmond’s burgeoning and popular Bridge Road precinct has launched its new autumn menu, with comforting additions perfect for the cooler months.
The menu is handcrafted by Chef and owner Will Manning. Will uses the best seasonal and locally sourced produce to construct innovative dishes, with an emphasis on Modern European cuisine.
To start, we recommend (our favourite dish of the night) the house made gnocchi. It was a faultless dish of light, fluffy gnocchi combined with sweet butternut pumpkin sauce, pickled shimeji and wonderfully crispy onion rings.
For mains their house-made pastas are a clear favourite amongst locals and it is easy to understand why. Our Squid ink tagliatelle was full of flavour and al dente and served with beautifully crispy and juicy soft shell crab. The deep fried crustacean pieces were coated in a semi-thick crisp batter that encapsulated firm, sweet flesh. With a touch of freshness from chilli, fennel and lemon it was an enticing dish.
For those of you with a sweet tooth Academy desserts are a must. We adored the Orange pannacotta with basil granita and liquorice. A texturally perfect rendition, the pannacotta was silky smooth. Just barely holding its shape, it was quivering on the plate.
